Ruth Margaret Potts, daughter of the late John William Potts and Margaret Davidson Potts was born November 4, 1925 in Akron, Ohio. One of four children, she grew up during the Great Depression. They didn’t have much, but they were rich in love. They moved to San Bernardino, California in 1945 as they were told the weather would improve John and Margaret’s health. Ruth regularly participated in the youth programs at St. Bernadine’s Catholic Church, and this is where she met her true love, George.
She united in holy matrimony to George Michael Shepperd in August of 1947. This union was blessed with four children. George proceeded her in death on January 19, 1999.
Ruth devoted her life to God and family. An active member of Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral for 70+ years, she also worked as secretary for the diocese. Ruth’s talents were many, she was an extremely accomplished seamstress, typist, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Loved by everyone that knew her, as she was angelic in nature.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: David Shepperd of Atwater, CA, Robert Shepperd of Poulsbo, WA, Meri Grzeca of San Marcos, CA, Dianne Wooldridge of Beaumont, CA; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
