Viola Schmidt

Viola Schmidt passed away September 3, 2020 in Redlands California, 13 days before her 89th birthday, after a long illness. Viola was born in Tuttle, North Dakota to John and Elizabeth Krein. She lived in California for 65 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, August (Gus) Schmidt, as well as 6 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Patty Gann and husband Bill, Shirley Mendenhall and husband Terry and Debbie Powell and husband Richard. She has 7 grandchildren, Tammy, Tracy, Michael, Amy, Christina, Jason, and one other, and 13 great grand children.

Viola was a very active wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family meant the world to her. She was an active member of Saint Adelaide’s Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Knights of Columbus Council 4488. Viola loved dancing with her husband, entertaining family and friends, gardening and decorating her home for every occasion. Her sense of humor was apparent to all that met her.

Viola was a kind, caring, loving woman who positively touched the lives of many people in her 88 years. She will

be missed. We love you mom.
