Uncle Wilbert...I forgot to tell you...I always remember hearing people say that when one family member leaves it's because they're making room for another member...well when you left us, your great-great nephew Rylen Cade Edwards decided to make his entrance on 9/17/2013 only weighing 1lb 7oz. He had you and our other family as his guardian angels watching over him and helping him fight to stay alive. "Wow my dearest Unk "where do I begin....Nobody but you could have gone out being on the internet, I could have only imagine what you would have said if I told you "guh no I ain't now". There are so many fond memories of you. I remember you would come by on Saturday mornings and take us (Me,Lois & Cookie) for a ride on your motorcycle when we got to the corner you would say "when I lean you lean" I would be making breakfast preparing eggs and you would say fix Unk one over easy and don't break the yoak with a tall glass of milk. I could go on and on the stories I could tell. You were one in a million. There will never be another like you. Uncle Wilbert will be missed especially by his nieces and nephews. His greatest assets were his beautiful smile and the unique way he could light up the room with his entrance.  We will always cherish those awesome memories we shared with our uncle.  Uncle Wilbert have fought the good fight, he has finished the race and have remained faithful, and now the prize awaits him, the Crown of Righteousness which the righteous Judge will give him on the day of his return. 2 Tim. 4:7.

To the Richard Family,
I can recall when I first met Mr. Richard, my mother was the daycare provider for Anthony who at the time was just a baby and Wilbert was dropping him off at our house at about 6:00 a.m.  About a year later I met Michael Jones who is the nephew by marriage to the Richard family, I know that we mourn and try to cope with death. At first many people provide us with calls or come by and that helps so much. Suddenly it's over and everyone goes back to their own home, the caller's feel they have said all they can. 
There are many bible verses on death; you can rely on the word of God to get you through the tough and trying times that never seem to go away when a loved one goes home to be with the LORD.  
I can say Wilbert was fun to be around, always had a great story to brighten any event,  great smile, proud father .

Uncle Wilbert was one of kind and he will definitely be missed by ALL of us. If he didnt make you laugh, something was wrong with you. Dear Roz and Niecy ... Our deepest condolences to you both in the loss of your father. We know that God is surrounding you with his comfort, love and a peace that surpasses all understanding.  Your father was a special person and will be remembered with a smile by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  We send you our love and sympathy.

I often think of the time when I was a child spending the summer with your family. Uncle Wilbert was always kind.  One day, I was in the yard with him while he was tending the landscape.  He took the time to tell me the names of flowers and trees growing there and It is one of my precious memories.  May God bless you with many happy memories of time with your dad and grandfather.

Your smile and your jovial presence will be missed Uncle Wilbert. I know you are at peace and out of pain now. I will forever remember your special unannounced appearances to Oxnard, your spare of the moment trips taking us to who knows where and fixing you milk with lots of ice. Uncle Wilbert had a special place in my heart. We all loved Uncle Wilbert in our own way. As children we were happy to have him visit; he made each of us feel special. This continued as we grew into adulthood.  We could always get a good laugh from him. Like Claudia said, we will never forget that laugh. I will also never forget his "fro"!  Like my daddy (Dave), Uncle Wilbert liked his cowboy hats, boots and jeans :-).

To my cousins, aunts and uncles, and extended family, let us find our way to Jesus. May you find comfort in God's Word that promises, “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted”. Love you all.
