From Tarek and Waleed Jamain overseas Mass for Adel

From Waleed & Tarek Jmaian - overseas Mass

Good afternoon family and friends, My name is Kamel (Tony) Ksar, and we are here to celebrate the life of our beloved sister, Adel Boatright who was a loving wife, great sister and a proud person.

Adel was born in Madaba Jordan in 1935, and was sent to be a nun at a young age.
According to Adel, She stayed in the convent for over 20 years, and life was not easy for her there.
Adel managed somehow to get a visitor visa to see her brothers in America and When she came to the usa, she loved it and decided to stay.
her first stop was San Diego Ca, where her brothers Joe and Eddie (may they rest in peace) were already in the Restaurant business.
Adel said that the funny thing that her brother Joe asked her in the second day of her arrival, if she wants to go to the catholic church in San Diego to join the nuns there??!!!, she told him brother, look me in the eyes are you serious?are you kidding? I was not happy in the convent in Jordan, with the nuns, and it does not make sense to go back to the rosary here in San Diego and be unhappy again. No way brother!!
Adel worked for few years at Joe’s and Eddie’s restaurants, then at Bob’s Big Boy restaurant, where she met her future husband Billy, who was respectful, loving and kind person, working with Solar Turbines company in San Diego.
Here I have to mention the fun part, how she got married. Our Catholic christian tradition that when somebody wants to get married, he or she introduce the new guy to get the blessing and approval from the father or older brother.
So Adel took Billy to her older brother Joe (May he rest in peace) for his blessing and approval, when Joe saw him and talked to him briefly, he said to Adel because of differences in culture, and you are new here, it will be hard for you,to live with this stranger, you do not know him too much, and you will not be happy, so I say NO to the wedding. So Billy and Adel left heartbroken and sad.
Then Adel took Billy to her brother Eddie in Los Angeles (may he rest in peace), after brief conversation with Billy, Eddie said to Adel, you do not know Billy for long, and he was married before, he wants to marry you for your money, then leave you. (but in fact she had zero $ and NO account), so NO to the wedding and both left heartbroken and sad again.
Finally Adel brought Billy to me and kamal, again after brief conversation with Billy, we said to her why this guy? Why is the rush? When did you meet him? Did you go out with him? After all those question, and Billy was sweating, poor guy!! We said to Adel, You will always find many Arab students in universities looking for Arab girls to marry, arab businessmen, you do not need this guy. So NO to the wedding again and both left heartbroken for the third time.
Finally Adel said heck with all my brothers, and I am going to marry this guy, he loves me and I love him and that is what matters.

The rest was history. They lived happily together for 17 years. In their leisure time, Adel and Billy enjoyed exploring the United States by RV. Billy passed away in 1993 from lung cancer and Adel was devastated and heartbroken again.

Adel has been living by herself after her husband Billy passed away. during which she was working with the Marriott Hotels as a cashier, waitress and Hostess for 30 years, making many long-lasting friends, among her co-workers.
After her retirement in 1985, she was delighted in taking cruises and tours with those friends, as well as with church groups and family members. She travelled the world, visiting Turkey, France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Italy, Palestine, Russia, and Egypt.

Adel surprised us in later years, She opened up in ways we did not expect, we talked more, laughed more, dined more, talked about her life as a nun, about her travel with her friends. as a result we appreciated her for who she was, not just as our sister, but as a person in her own right.

But we did not forget those early years, where family members, especially George, and Jeffrey qsar, helped Adel for everything she needed. Thank you both so much for looking out for your aunt. Your kindness and help meant everything to our family. We appreciated you more than words can say! Thanks also to all the wives Alia, wafa who were giving us support behind the scenes.

In the last 3-4 years, Adel started to forget things and started to get sick, she couldn’t drive, shop, and walk, and she needed a lot of help, thanks to the best caregivers in the world my dear wife Salwa, me and my brother Kamal, we all worked day and night 24/7 for 3 years to care for her

Thank you Salwa, for the middle-of-the-night moments, that no one noticed and saw, (but me and Kamal), the quiet patience, and the love no one else saw. You care so much for others with grace, patience, safety, and dignity, I am so grateful for the peace of mind you bring. I am so lucky to have you by my side.
Salwa always said I am her rock to lean on when she needed my support the most. It was not easy for either of us during these difficult times. I tried to keep up with her but she kept going round the clock.

Also Thank you brother Kamal for your time helping Adel, all that while you had physical issues, and a family that needed your on-going support which required you to split your time between her and them.

In addition to having to go to work in between.

So today, we honor my sister Adel, not just for who she was, but for the journey we shared together.

May you rest in peace our dear beloved sister Adel
