

ADELAIDA CAPIO GUTIERREZ Having a full life, Adelaida Capio Gutierrez, 84, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2012 at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Los Angeles. Born on October 19, 1927 in the Quezon Provence in the Philippines, she was the oldest of ten children.
In May 10, 1947 she married the love of her life, Dr. Joaquin P. Gutierrez Sr. and together they had two sons and three daughters. She was initially an elementary school teacher then became a devoted full-time mother.
A source of inspiration to all, she possessed intelligence both intellectually and artistically, as she was a talented pianist and artist. She treasured being with family and enjoyed birthday gatherings, graduations, cheering her grandchildren at games, and anything of family significance that brought everyone together. Her greatest joy was her husband of 65 years and her family.
She is survived by her children, daughter Leticia G. Hernandez, RN, and her husband Jim, of Saber Springs; son Dr. Joaquin C. Gutierrez Jr., and his wife Cora, RN, of Staten Island, New York; son Dr. Vic C. Gutierrez and his wife Malu of Ocala, Florida; daughter Grace G. Torres, RN and her husband Robert of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter Mercy G. Pascual, RN and her husband, Ricky of North Hills, California. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She will forever be missed as a wise, sweet, creative, artistic, generous, intelligent, beautiful and loving influence in all the lives she touched.
A viewing and reciting of the rosary will be at Greenwood Mortuary in San Diego on Tuesday, October 23rd starting at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be on Wednesday, October 24th at 10:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Park.
