May 5, 1963 – October 10, 2026
Agnes F. Mendoza, lovingly known as “Aggi,” passed away unexpectedly on October 10, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on May 5, 1963, in Manila, Philippines, Agnes moved to the United States, where she built a life of her own with her daughter. She was the beloved sister of Alvin and Armina Mendoza and the loving mother of Nicole Fine and loving Nana to Gaige and Harley Fine.
Agnes graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1981 and shortly thereafter earned a degree from the Institute of Computer Technology. She dedicated 40 years to the information technology industry, beginning her career at Pacific Bell and later working for SBC and NACR. She spent approximately 17 years as a project manager with ConvergeOne and retired in October 2025.
Family was central to Agnes’s life. She was actively involved in her grandsons’ school activities, helping with fundraisers that celebrated the number of books read or miles run. Almost every Tuesday, she also looked forward to watching movies with her “favorite nephew” (wink-wink), Ethan.
Despite the health challenges she faced following a stroke in July 2025, she made significant strides in her recovery - driving herself to run errands, having lunch with her friends and former coworkers, busy with her artworks, and an army fan of BTS! Her sudden and unexpected passing has left her family as well as friends heartbroken, as we had looked forward to many more years and cherished memories together. When she can, she also enjoyed taking the Amtrak and do day trips to L.A. and have lunch or dinner date with her sister - Mina, Matt and his mom, Mrs.Dennis, especially on their birthdays.
After experiencing a stroke in July 2025, Agnes faced health challenges with determination and made meaningful progress in her recovery. She was driving herself to run errands, enjoying lunches with friends and former coworkers, keeping busy with her artwork, and enthusiastically supporting BTS. As she began retirement, she had hoped to spend more time with her family in Las Vegas. Her sudden passing has left her family and friends heartbroken, and they will deeply miss her while holding close the memories they shared and the many moments they had hoped still lay ahead.
Agnes is survived by her daughter, Nicole, her son-in-law, Matthew, and her grandsons, Gaige and Harley; her sister Mina; Matt Dennis; her brother Alvin and sister-in-law Anabelle; her nephew and godson James and his wife, Yahaira; her nephew Chris and his wife, Amanda; her nephew Ethan; her niece Elena and her wife, Jennellle; her niece Drew; and her grandnieces; MJ, Dylan, Joey, Jackson, and Noe and grandnephew Kadence.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Alvin, Belle, and Ethan Mendoza for the care and compassion they showed Agnes in the moments surrounding her unexpected passing .
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on October 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with services beginning on Monday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m. at El Camino Memorial, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, California.
