Bob and Sue Mills

Fate brought us together at the Catamaran. She asked us where we were from I said Alaska. She lit up we sat and shared stories of our adventures in Alaska. As a young girl she left Michigan on her adventure. We left San Diego, CA on our adventure to Alaska 40 years ago.
We had so much in common. Bob ran back excited to the room and grabbed a jar of our smoked salmon for Alberta. We all cried. Our friendship grew from there. She wrote us letters and postcards. We kept in touch shared dinners, her music, ice cream and cruzing.
Our kids and us have lots of memories with her. We will truly miss this wonderful lady.
God Bless Alberta

Never forgotten love

I knew Alberta and her late husband , Don, since 1974 as neighbors in Pacific Beach, California, and over the years since then, we became tremendous friends. Over that time, we shared many conversations and meals, especially at Saska’s and The Catameran Hotel, two of our favorite watering holes.

After Don’s passing, I assisted Alberta to get her house in order and in providing company. During this time, she related some fabulous stories about her young years in Alaska. This was quite an adventure for a young woman to go to Alaska and work during WW 2. And Alberta read me letters that her father had written full of wisdoms of a father advising his young daughter in the outbacks of Alaska. From these letters, I realized the insights and experiences that Alberta had about life.

Although, I moved to Arizona seven years ago, and despite the fact, I did not agree with some of Alberta’s choices that she had made in the last couple of years; I will miss her and her late husband, Don, and will cherish all of the great memories of my time spent with them.

May Alberta Rest In Peace!

From the Smith Family of Fullerton, Alberta was a beloved person in our family since the 1960s. Her kindness and wisdom regarding life was very special to our family throughout all the years of her life. Although we will miss her physical presence, we know her Spirit lives on. I met Alberta years ago when I started working at the Catamaran Resort. I was a cocktail waitress when I first had the honour to wait and serve Alberta and her husband Don. They were an amazing and lively couple. They loved to dance and listen to the music that we would have at the piano bar, I always remember them dancing. Alberta was such a resilient and one of the smartest women I have ever known. I admired her strength and wit. She and I would spend Thanksgiving, some Christmas' and some New Year's Eve's at the lounge bar. I loved her keeping me company while I worked during the holidays. Alberta will be missed, and I hope she knows how loved and appreciated she was. Thank you Alberta for touching my life!
