He was born in San Quintin, Pangasinan, Philippines on July 12, 1947, to Marcelino Soriano and Milagros Guillermo Tecson.
Alfredo enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1969 where he would proudly serve the United States, his adopted country, and travel the world.
He met the love of his life, Corazon Estacio, in 1971 and married February 6, 1973 in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan.
Alfredo was stationed in Portland, Maine. Corazon arrived soon after, and their first child, Alfredo, Jr. was born. They were then stationed in Kodiak, Alaska where Alfredo, Jr. passed a few months later. Second child Reynan and third child Daryl were later born there.
Though Alfredo loved playing tennis, golf, Texas hold ‘em and cooking, his favorite role was that as a grandfather. He treasured his time with his grandsons and loved being “Grandpa” to Cameron and Christian.
He had a soft spot for furry friends, treating them like valuable family members that they were. Alfredo loved the family’s cherished Chow-Chow “Kobe” and Lhasa Apso “Bella”.
During his career in the Coast Guard, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Southern Illinois University. With great determination he was later promoted Lieutenant Commander. After serving for 30 years, he retired from active duty. In 2000 he brought his expertise in mechanical engineering to U.S. Navy Military Sealift Command, where he worked as a civilian for 21 years.
He will always be remembered for his character, particularly his devotion to family, work ethic, generosity, hospitality and lessons he left his children. The family could not have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother and will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Alfredo is survived by his wife Corazon, son Reynan and his wife Lolita, son Daryl and his wife Mailee, their children Cameron and Christian, his sister Ligaya and her husband Proculo Cardenas Jr., and his sister Florida.
