

Alice Cutler, devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, age 90, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 in San Diego, Ca. after a long illness. She was born in Frankfort, MI to Lloyd and Bertha Thornell. After high school, she attended County Normal and became a teacher in a rural two room school. She married Allen Cutler in 1947. The Navy brought them to San Diego in 1955. In San Diego she was able to combine her skills in cooking and child rearing with her love of teaching and began a long, satisfying career as a Teaching Homemaker with the Visiting Nurses Association. Her favorite memories were of her childhood on the family dairy farm in Frankfort, MI, family dinners, trips back to Michigan with the grandchildren. Family was the center of her life; she was the heart of our family. Alice is preceded in death by her husband Allen, and her brothers Lloyd, Jerry, Carl, and Alfred. She is survived by brother Dennis Thornell (Sharon); sons Bradley (Susan) and Brian (Marilyn); grandchildren Carrie (Cook), Erich (Bo-in), Andrew (Stefanie), Thomas (Livia), David (Melanie); and great grandchildren Cassandra (Cook), Lawrence (Cook), Sung-min, and Hannah along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121 on Monday December 11, 2017. Calling hours at 10 a.m., Funeral at 11 a.m., Grave side service at noon.
