Angelina M. (Tavares) Madruga passed away September 18, 2018, at the age of 92. Angie was born December 19, 1925 in San Diego, the third child of Manuel and Belmira (Jorge) Tavares; her older siblings were Armand and Matilda (Tillie). At the age of 4½ she went to live with Manual and Maria Julia (Madruga) Soares, following the untimely death of her mother. On June 3, 1945 Angie married the love of her life, Arnold F. Madruga, who was fondly referred to as “Big A.” They had three children; Arnold Jr.; Julianna; and Jeffrey.
Angie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also had a large influence on her many “nieces” and “nephews.” She was never too busy to support them when they needed her. She also worked as a Home Health Care Aide for many years. She provided her patients the same loving care that she gave to her own family. TiTi Angie was a constant in many lives and her love, laughter, and wisdom will be deeply missed.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful, caring staff at Kindred Hospice for their continuous support during Angie’s recent illness.
Arnold predeceased Angie in 1987. She is survived by their three children Arne (Maxine), Julie (Art Laubach), and Jeff; three grandsons Omar Madruga (Amy); Justin Laubach (Susan); and Jordan Laubach; and five great-grandchildren Carol, Angelina, and James Madruga, and Chelsea and Travis Laubach.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. There will be a rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by the mass. Angie will be buried next to “Big A” at Riverside National Cemetery.
