Annette Choi, 67, a longtime resident of San Diego, passed away on October 22nd at Jacobs Medical Center following a twenty-year battle with myasthenia gravis and an eight-year battle with cancer. She was born on September 8, 1957 in Hong Kong. She migrated to San Diego with her family at the age of 7, and quickly became a protector and provider for her siblings at a young age. Her work ethic and tenacity followed her throughout her life, achieving her Masters degree in Business while simultaneously raising two children, working full-time in corporate finance during the week, and part-time at the family restaurant on the weekends. She always emphasized the importance of strong family values, living in the present, and being there for others. She had a passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing those meals with extended family. As her family grew, she dedicated her life to the next generation, raising five grandchildren who filled her life with joy and love.
Annette is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, John Choi, her two children and their spouses: Jamie and Kevin Goon, and Justin and Sydney Choi; five grandchildren: Joshua, Ellie, William, Abigail and Olivia; her parents Bock and Ngan Lew; five siblings and their families: Connie Lee, Linda Jung, Penny DelCarmen, Barbara Lew and Franklin Lew.
