Anthony Joseph Rendine

Anthony Joseph Rendine, 93, of San Diego, California died on June 30, 2026 at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. He was born on November 1, 1932 to Angelo and Anna Marie (Bucci) Rendine of Providence, Rhode Island. He was the husband of Barbara Rendine and a retired Master Chief Petty Officer in the U. S. Navy.

Growing up in Providence, he graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1950 and worked at a local jewelry store. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952. Boot camp was followed by specialty training as a Tradevman (TD, Training Devicesman). While stationed at NAS North Island, Coronado, California, he met TD1 Margaret Budine and they married in 1956. After a tour of duty in Kingsville, TX, they returned to California and bought a house in Imperial Beach in 1960. Following tours at Barbers Point, Hawaii and Fallon, Nevada, they were again stationed in the San Diego area and returned to Imperial Beach in 1970. He was involved with the Cub Scouts serving as Cubmaster and with the Boy Scouts serving as Scoutmaster and District Commissioner in San Diego County.

Anthony was stationed at various naval bases around San Diego and was at NAS North Island for his final tour. He began college coursework leading to an Associate in Arts in Mathematics from Southwestern College in 1978. He retired from active duty in 1979. His wife Margaret passed away in May of 1980. He began his second career in government in 1981 as Training Device Manager for Fleet Aviation Specialized Operational Training Group, U.S. Pacific Fleet; and Commander Helicopter Antisubmarine Light Wing, U.S., at NAS North Island. He continued with college and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from San Diego State in 1982.

He remarried to Elaine Anne Del Ricco in August of 1983. They enjoyed ocean cruises and traveling to different places, and fine dining. Elaine passed away in January of 1996.

He remarried in June of 2000 to Barbara Lee Cilk and moved to South Park in San Diego. They enjoyed traveling and dining out. He retired from civil service in 2003 after 22 years of service.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed his many roles as Son, Brother, Nephew, Husband, Father, "Master Chief", Grandfather, and Great-grandfather. He enjoyed researching the genealogy of his extended family. He enjoyed good dining and family meals, especially Italian food.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, his wife Elaine, and his brother John P. Rendine.

Anthony is survived by his wife Barbara Rendine; his two sons John Rendine of Imperial Beach, CA and Tommy Rendine of Carlsbad, CA; brother Joseph E. Rendine and his wife Marie; sister-in-law Dalphyne Rendine; Elaine's children Lorraine Kabat and husband Dan, Karen Ray and husband Kevin, Paula Apice, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; Barbara's children Heather and husband Nate Aschenbrenner and Laura and husband BJ Opp, and four grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation on Monday 20 July, 2026 at Goodbody Mortuary, 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral mass Wednesday 22 July, 2026 at Saint Charles Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Fort Rosecrans Cemetery at a later date.
