Tu baby, Hilda.

Dearest Abuelito Antonio,
I am going to miss you so much- you have been my only grandfather and as I write this I do so with a heavy heart. Our family will dearly miss you but we know that you will be watching us from heaven and together with our grandma, you will be guiding us as you did when you were here. I am one of your many grandchildren that had the fortune to have grownup in our family and have you as our role-model for all these years. You are a beloved member of our family that had the courage to dream and with much hard work and sacrifice you succeeded in giving your family a better life. We got to hear your many stories of Zacatecas, where you and grandma were born. You taught us so many life lessons that will always be with me. When we visited you, you always had candy or cookies for us but the real gift was the time we shared hearing your many stories with lessons from a life well lived. You were a man of love, respect, determination and you were very proud of raising your beautiful and united family. Our family get togethers were always celebrated in the home you bought many years ago and they were fun times of warmth, cheer, games and your music that you listened to very loudly. As you looked around the room- you saw your family- all your children that are here because of you. Through hard work you became a talented chef. How lucky were we to grow up tasting your delicious food that you prepared with love. Thank you for being a great man of high character, strength and devotion to your family. Thank you for being a great teacher, for sharing your food and culture, for laughing with us and for pulling our ears when we needed it for it was the way you showed you cared and loved us. Thank you for being that beautiful soul full of kindness and love that left behind so many beautiful memories and for being the leader of our family. Abuelito we will miss you but you will forever be in our hearts. God Bless You Always-

To my loving Grandfather,

Thank you so much for everything you have done to take care of this family. I am very honored to have had you as my grandfather and I am so grateful for everytime you and my grandmother have opened your doors for my mom and I when our times were very dire. I still recount the many small talks we have had with each other and how you have told me about your hometown and the times when you have told me about you working at White Sands of La Jolla. I always admired you and always looked up to you as you have done so much to provide for this family and to make this family to what it is currently right now. It's definitely really hard for me right now as there is now mostly silence and an empty room every time I wake up to get ready for work and come home, but the memories I have of you will always be with me and in my heart forever. I love you very much grandpa and I will miss you dearly, but as you probably would have told me I will "continue my life and keep working well at my job and to always watch out." Please enjoy your time now that you are with my grandma and I do hope in the far future you greet me on the other side with open arms. I will also make sure to look out after my mother as you have always told me. Rest peacefully grandpa.

Much love
Your Grandson Gabriel Jaimes

Dad- I will always hold you and mom in my heart. Loosing the two of you has been the worst pain I have ever had to endure. But knowing that you and mom are now resting brings comfort to this very sad times. I want to thank you dad for all your sacrifices you endure to make sure your family was always taken care of. I feel very honored to have spent this last year helping take care of you. Although it was very difficult at times I wouldn’t hesitate to do it all over again. Thank you dad for all the love, help & advise. Know that both you and mom will forever be missed!!

Know that I love you very much!! You never told me you were proud of me or that you love me but that morning you took my hand and softly kissed it - well that will be a memory I will always hold close to my heart.

This not good bye dad- I know my time will come when I will join you and mom again - Love you with all my heart Evangelina Jaimes.

One of my favorite photos I took of my grandpa in front of his casita in Pozo de Gamboa, Zacatecas,MX (November 2012).
What an astounding man he was. What an honor to have been able to call him my grandfather. I’ve heard many stories of how hard my grandpa worked, starting when he was just a little boy to help his mother. Then continued to work hard for his wife and children so that they could have more than he had. But hard working was only a part of who this man was. He was the patriarch of our family, the backbone, and the man with great amazing stories. He was also a loud talker which many of my family members inherited including myself (says my husband) but behind his firm and stern voice was a loyal husband, concerned father, caring grandpa, and jokester of a guy.
I will forever miss my grandpa and although he is no longer with us on earth, we (his children, grand-children, great-grandchildren etc.) all carry a piece of his strength, work-ethic, pride, love, faith, and heart that no one can ever take away. How blessed are we to now have the duty to carry on his legacy and make him proud.

My father was a very strong man, he worked hard to provide for his family. He wanted a better life for me and my siblings and trough many sacrifices and hard work he brought us all to this country. My dad would tell me about the experiences he lived, some were bad but many were good. I loved to listen to my dad and it did not matter that he had told me the same stories many times. My dad was my adviser when it came to planting my vegetable garden. He also had a great sense of humor, I loved the joke of the "Changuito" and the historia de "Jelipa".
I loved my father and I will miss him so much, but I take comfort that he is now resting and at peace with mom by our Lords side 💖
