
Berny Bing Tsai Birth date: January 31, 1934 in Bei Ping, China. She was the oldest of three children. Death date: April 1, 2016 in La Jolla, San Diego, CA. She passed away calmly and peacefully at 3:15 AM, at home with husband Joseph Cho Chuan Tsai, Nora Hui and son Jeffrey P. Hui at her bed side. She suffered from colon cancer with metastatic liver cancer Berny was an eternal optimist with a generous heart, willing to help relatives and friends in need. She loved to travel, knit, cook, dance, sing, and learn about music, and studied water color painting with Grace Chow and Kitty Tao. Berny's father Lee Gi Yen, deceased, was a newspaper chief editor, and from Shan Dong, Zhu Cheng . Berny's mother Chang Chih Ping from Chi Lin, Ning An , is 106 years old and lives in San Jose, California. Berny graduated from the Taiwan provincial Taipei Institute of Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China with a major in Textile Engineering, and earned a B.S. degree in Textile Chemistry, with a minor in biology, from the North Carolina State University. As an engineer, she worked and taught classes in Liu Ho Textile Manufacturing Factory, before coming to America. After graduating from NCSU, she taught Mathematics and Science in various high schools and took care of her family. After divorce she married Joseph Tsai and later they moved to San Diego together. Berny is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Joseph Tsai, daughter Nora Hui; son Jeffrey Hui; mother Lee Chang Chih Ping; sister, Linda ; brother, Yung; nephew, Kevin Lee, his wife, Precie and their son, Adam. There will not be a funeral or memorial service. Her remains will be placed at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley in San Diego, CA.
