Billie “Bill” Owens, 90 of Del Mar, California – Born September 5, 1923 in Rocksprings Texas. Bill passed away peacefully on June10, 2014. Bill was a U.S. Army Air Force WWII veteran, where he piloted the B-24. Upon his return he received his Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin. He then became a test pilot at Edwards Air Force Base where he met Margaret Lorraine Shultz, his wife of 53 years. As an Aeronautical Engineer, Bill was employed at Ryan Aeronautical, Lockheed, and Northrup Gruman where he is survived by his daughter Lisa Owens. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services at 12:00 and reception to follow at 1:00 p.m. on Friday June 27th at El Camino Memorial Sorrento Valley at 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd., San Diego, CA 92121. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Collings Foundation, which serves to restore WWII planes, to share with future generations.
