Catherine Anna Dietz Carl February 15, 1929 - February 13, 2015 Reunited with her Valentine a day early after 20 years apart. After a lifetime of minimal doctor visits, several months of battling lymphoma proved to be too much for this strong lady. Originally from Long Island, Cathy settled in San Diego in 1967, as one of the original University City residents, with her Navy husband (James P. Carl) and three children. Cathy was very active, loved shopping, dining out and playing the slots. With her green thumb she tended to her beautiful yard for decades. She loved to talk, had a great sense of humor, a soft spot for animals, and she made friends wherever she'd go. She is survived by her sons Peter (Mimi) and James (Sue); grandchildren Malia (Michael Doi), Chelsea, Chase, and Cassie; and her brand new great grandson Bodhi. She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia, in 2007. At Cathy's request, there will be no services.
