Curtis Lamont Stevens Sr., born July 19, 1974, passed peacefully on September 2, 2026, in San Diego, California. Born in New York to Kenneth and Jessi P. Stevens, Curtis spent his early years in New York and Alabama before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, at 17, where he graduated high school and later proudly served five years in the United States Air Force as a Diet Therapy Apprentice. He was honorably discharged after receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Award.
Curtis later met the love of his life, Rhonna Mendoza, while living in Las Vegas. They welcomed their two sons, Kenneth and Curtis Jr, and married in the summer of 2008. The family eventually made San Diego their home, where Curtis worked as a cable technician, CDL truck driver, and, most recently, a dietary cook—continuing his lifelong passion for cooking.
Curtis lived life to the fullest. He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, playing pool, and spending time with his beloved dogs. He was an active member of his community and served as Vice President of the Brothers of the Sun Motorcycle Club, San Diego Chapter, where he was affectionately known as “Grimy.”
Curtis was truly a jack of all trades—able to fix just about anything, cook an unforgettable meal, and make people laugh along the way. Though he could appear tough and intimidating, those who knew him knew him as a loving, kind, funny, and generous man who believed in treating everyone with respect and without judgment.
Curtis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He leaved behind his wife Rhonna; sons Kenny and Curtis Jr; grandson Kaden, lovingly called “Puppyjaws”; his mother Jessi; his brother Kenny; and countless family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Curtis never let anyone tell him what he could and couldn’t do. He remained true to himself, loved deeply, and lived boldly. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched. In his honor, may we continue to live life fully, love fiercely, stand up for what we believe in, and always remember to “Fight the Power.”
