This memory popped up today (2023), so I will share another piece of Derek's art. Punk rock lives on as does Derek's spirit. 

One of the last times we went out, was about 6 or 7 years ago. I picked Derek up, we got drunk. We went to my sons punk gig. Derek was bragging of how tough and tall he was and how he would back me up, with his Doc Marten boots, if anything ever happened. I started a brawl in the mosh pit. Freaking Derek just looked away and pretended he didn't see anything. Needless to say, I was at the bottom of the pile. That Derek was funny. I just found out Derek past away. I'm sorry brother that I wasn't with you. I will  miss you.

I posted a memory two years ago. Today, I got an email reminder about Derek, so I would also like to share that he was a good artist back in "the day." I remember many things that he drew and leather jackets that he painted. I don't have much left to share except this and one other skull drawing. 

Derek my friend, you were such a good person with a kind heart.  You always had a smile on your face and was always  kind to everyone.  RIP my friend and thank you for the friendship and making me welcome when I was at PPO.

Derek, you were my first official boyfriend. I shared many ups and downs with you. So, you will therefore always be a very important person in my life. You were a major part of my coming of age. It was tough when we parted ways, but we were so young. It was great to reconnect with you in recent days. I looked forward to sharing an all-new friendship, and I will always remember times at Presidio Park, watching Disney, talking about cars, listening to records and that day at Cost Plus. Yes, I love you, so rest in peace or be the most fabulous of all ghosts. You are already sorely missed!

You were always very kind to me. Thank you for always being welcoming and thoughtful with your gifts. I’m sad that I couldn’t say goodbye and we can’t nerd out over silly sci-fi shows and movies anymore, but you will continue to live on in our hearts. I will always think of you when I look at the night sky and the cluster of stars you named after me.

You were always very nice to me, always insisting I have some food or have this or that. You had a very giving heart and I always appreciated your kind and giving spirit. We will all miss you dearly.

Derek was a man who walked down the hall of PPO, with his bright shirts, so tall and always a smile of smiles. I used to joke with him saying "You are so  short", and jokingly,   to me , he say,"You are so tall". (Smallest lady at PPO).  YOU WILL BE MISSED, from PPO FAMILY🦄🕊🕊🥀🥀

Derek was such a nice man.  He was well liked by everyone who knew him.  Seeing Derek at work and seeing him smile always made my day!  Rest in peace Derek.  You will be missed.

I remember giving you this CD back in the 90's when it came out. Many years went by and then we reconnected again. First thing you asked me was do I still have any of these CD's. It was like 30 years later and I said I don't think we have any but I will search the warehouse. I found one and sent it to you. It was playing in that Hot Rod Mustang you had when you crashed it you crazy Son. I luv you man. Well last time we hung out at casino you asked me if I could locate another copy. I searched all over the warehouse and happened to find the last one. I would like to give it to you..... But I can only cry that I wish I found it sooner. I will give it to Sharee. 

Derek was a cool guy. He was the guy in high school who looked hard core Punk but was a really nice guy. I liked Metal and he liked Punk but he was always cool with everyone. Sadly gone too soon. RIP buddy.

Derek was always a good guy. We grew up down the street. I was a rocker Derek was not but he was always cool with me. I have many man fond memories hanging out with him. He was a great guy, he will be missed

Derek gave me the nick name beatle Lee,I would yell out his name in a high pitch voice and he’d respond,What’s up beatle! I’m going to miss he’s crazy jokes and he’s joyous laughter.Rest in peace Big man.Your little buddy Beatle Lee.

So Derek, (my big buddy) would collect cards for my son Nathan every chance he got. After my kids lost  there mother it really meant a lot that he cared so much how they where doing. After 16 years of working with him it’s going to be weird to not have him next to my desk telling jokes and making it a little easier to get up every morning. Rest In Peace buddy... I will truly miss you!

Derek was our "Big Buddy" at work. We always will remember him as having a funny comment and story that we would all get a good laugh over while at work. His "bright" colored shirts definitely set him apart from everyone else when he walked down the hallway. I miss him for all the fun times we had at work over the years. God bless his family during these times and rest assured he is at peace with God at his side. We will all miss him as he was unique person to with over the years.

Rest in Peace Derek. You well be Missed but Never forgotten. Thank You for my Beautiful Granddaughter Tabatha & Great Grand kids Beatriz & Elijah. That you  Blessed me with. And you were Blessed . Another Angel Flew Home. 4-08-2020
