From preschool to eleventh grade, Dillon attended La Jolla Country Day School. He spent only his senior year at La Jolla High. After graduating high school, he attended Hofstra University in Long Island, NY, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Music with a minor in Psychology. After graduating college, Dillon returned to San Diego where he began his career as a guitar instructor (and, on the side, a chess instructor). Dillon just wanted to share his love of music with the world and especially those in need mentally. He always said, “Music is therapy.” Branching out on his own in late 2020, he started a small company called “Mellow Tonin’ Music LLC”.
Dillon was big-hearted, extremely intelligent, and always so thoughtful. He cared for his family and friends above all else and cared little for the material things in life. He was radiantly charming; his contagious smile and great sense of humor warmed and cheered so many hearts. He was a hopeless romantic. He was a critical thinker on subjects both complex and mundane. He wasn’t perfect; he had his demons and sometimes straddled the edge of chaos, but underneath it all, he was genuinely incredibly kind, welcoming, and embracing … and deeply, deeply good.
He will be remembered as a rare, beautiful mind and beautiful soul.
Dillon is predeceased by his father Gerald and is survived by his paternal grandmother Annie, his mother Phoenix, his only brother Channing, and his nephew Wyland and niece Zoey.
A visitation for Dillon will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121.
