He is survived by his loving family- his wife, Belen Cruzada Hebreo, their two sons Joseph and Jonathan and their daughter-in-law, Jaclyn, and their two grandsons: Jaxen and Jedrick. Dong’s siblings are Elizabeth, Lydia, Jose Jr., Angelita, Emelina, Hernanie, and Marissa.
He moved to the United States in 1974 and shortly thereafter he joined The US Army. Dong and Belen were married in Canada on September 25, 1976. They moved from Los Angeles to San Diego in 1978. He provided for his family by working for the US Postal Service for 30 years as a mail carrier. His children remember him as kind, gentle and loving. He encouraged them to pursue their education.
He loved to travel and grow fruits which everyone enjoyed. He was an active member of Community Congregational Church of Chula Vista, United Church of Christ.
