Domingos Franca Nunes passed away on April 11, 2020. Domingos was born on August 4, 1930 to Joao and Maria Nunes in Paul Do Mar Madeira, Portugal. Domingos was one of seven brothers. His family migrated to San Diego and Domingos began fishing at a young age. Domingos’ fishing career spanned for many years where he became known as the best cook in the tuna fleet. Domingos was proud of his Portuguese heritage and always looked forward to cooking for the many Portuguese festivities. Domingos will be remembered as the best cook in the tuna fleet, but most of all for his immeasurable love of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Domingos is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mary Rodrigues Nunes, his daughter Doreen Nunes Mendes, his six brothers, and his parents. He will be greatly missed by his daughters: Eileen (John) Virissimo and Cerina. His son-in-law: Joao (Doreen) Mendes. His grandchildren: John (Jenitta) Virissimo, Eileen (Steven) Brown, John and Jeffrey Mendes, and Nicholas Kiser. His great-grandchildren: Sienna and Miyah Brown and Jayden and Jaxon Virissimo.
