Aside from her husband and her children, Mrs. Schrader loved poetry (both reading and writing it), classical music and politics. She never shied away from a debate and she always had a point of view.
Mrs. Schrader was born and raised in Guatemala, as the only daughter among five brothers. In her youth, she was remembered as a great beauty, who loved jokes, dancing and boys and most of all, her independence. In her teens, she appeared in the first cigarette commercial for television in Guatemala and worked as a young librarian in the Guatemalan Congress during a turbulent time in the country’s history. By chance, as so many important things in life, she met a young American Marine, who, like her, was seeking a little adventure. They fell in love and stayed at each other’s side, in happy times and difficult times for 54 years, until Robert’s death in 2012.
Mrs. Schrader is survived by: her sons, Ronald, and Alexander of Los Angeles, California; her son Robert Jr., of London, United Kingdom; her brothers Raul, Danilo and Amilcar, of Guatemala; her brothers Julian and Ivan of San Francisco, California, and her granddaughter, Chloe, of London, United Kingdom. Although she has left us, she will always be remembered.
