

Dot was born in Lost Springs, KS on September 23, 1927, and was the oldest of three children. She grew up in Lost Springs, KS, and attended Lost Springs High School where she met her soul mate, Robert Rex McNicol. Dot and Rex were married on December 2, 1945, and eventually moved to Wichita, KS where they created an incredible life.
Dot had a few jobs early on in life including five years as the secretary at the University United Methodist Church before finding her forever home as the Administrative Assistant to Campus Ministries at Wichita State University where she remained for over 50 years.
Dot had a smile that would light up any room she walked into. She was an avid Wichita State University baseball, basketball, and volleyball fan and would travel with the teams as much as possible. She loved the Kansas City Chiefs, played bridge for many years, and was extremely active in her church (University United Methodist Church) where she was a member for over 70 years. Dot was extremely outgoing and had a social calendar that would tire any young person.
Dot is predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Rex McNicol, parents Lloyd and Alice Spangler, brother Eugene Klein, brother Leland Klein and sister-in-law Lorene Klein and nephew Alan Klein. She is survived by her only daughter, Barb Kessler (Mike), granddaughter Tisha Johnson (Paul), granddaughter Jennifer Jung (Tom), two great-granddaughters (Madeline and Ashley Jung), sister-in-law Marilyn Klein, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, May 28, 2023
