Douglas was born in Lockport, NY on August 8, 1927.
He was the oldest of two children.
His younger half sister, Shirley, preceded him in passing in 2005.
Douglas was an active child with lots of piss and vinegar.
He met his match in kindergarten.
There he and Barbara, his wife of nearly 63 years, fell in love.
They attended kindergarten through high school together.
After which, Douglas joined the New York Maritime Academy.
He specialized in marine engineering.
Barbara went off and married someone else,
even though Doug told her, " It will never last..."
Three years later, on September 8, 1951, Douglas and Barbara were wed.
They moved to San Diego in 1958, driving across the country with their beautiful boys,
two year old David Raymond and 6 month old, Michael William.

They lived in Clairemont and attended Pioneer Church.
In 1962, Margaret Elizabeth was born.
