I knew Doug for eight years in Albuquerque.  When I moved to California we lost touch.  But when I retired and returned to New Mexico I tried unsuccessfully to find him.  How sad to see he passed away last year.  After seeing this touching slide show, I am comforted to see his loving family and friends and he seems to have enjoyed life to the fullest.  God bless him!

Doug was a model neighbor! Always friendly when we crossed paths and made sure to acknowledge Victor and me. He was usually doing something to spruce up the front portion of his property and went to great lengths to make it look pretty for all of us to enjoy. Our deepest condolences go to Jeremy and to Doug's family.

I will always remember Doug when I see hummingbirds. He was such a sweet neighbor and gave me a hummingbird feeder and hummingbird poster. Hummingbirds symbolize Joy and that is truly what Doug brought to people's lives. He will be missed.

Doug - even though we have had our disagreements over the 20 years of friendship, you were always a good and support friend to me as I was to you. As friends we were there to support each other thru the good and the bad times that each of us were going thru at the time and so it is sad to see that you are now gone. We wish we had had the opportunity to meet Doug.  But, counting Jeremy as one of our dearest friends for over 30 years, we know that Doug was a very kind, loving & special man.  Only someone special and amazing would make Jeremy so happy.  Jeremy and to Doug's family, we are so incredibly sorry for your loss.  I can tell by the light in his eyes, that Doug was a happy man.  We know there's no words that can comfort you at this time, but we hope that over time, your hearts will bloom even more with fond memories of the times you spent together.

Jeremy, When you first introduced us to Doug, we knew instantly that this gentle, thoughtful, witty and considerate man was the perfect life partner for you. As we spent more time together this was confirmed. Sadly, the journey that seemed to just be   starting ended far too soon. Doug was such a kind and supportive person. I was lucky enough to have known him as a colleague for over ten years and most recently got to call him my designated "buddy". I will miss him very much. My heart goes out to all who share his loss.

Doug was a delight and I was blessed to meet him though work.  He always had the best attitude and worked diligently for the best outcome in what can be a difficult business.  I appreciated hearing his voice - even when he was calling to tell me something I didn't want to hear.  He was simply the best and I will miss him greatly.  All my best to his loved ones.

We met on a cruise ship at one of those sit-down lunches in the big dining room with the white tablecloths and the silver serving trays. The lunch where eight people who don't know one another are seated together and you wonder who you'll be stuck with. Lady luck herself put us next to Doug and Jeremy and as the seas rolled past us and the waiter brought food and drink, we began to know one another. It was "Like at first sight" for us--my husband and me. The four of us chatted and laughed together while the rest of the table ate in silence interspersed with snippets of polite conversation. We didn't notice them. We told stories of past trips and promised future ones together. Amsterdam, Europe, or maybe another cruise. And after awhile, we realized we were the last ones seated. We ran into Doug and Jeremy off and on over the rest of the week and always, we laughed and had fun together.

We kept in touch--you know, the usual Christmas cards and the occasional email, and six months later, in February, we reconnected and cruised the Caribbean together. We laughed and joked as always, and spoke of serious things, too. And again, we felt a kinship and knew our friendship would blossom and those trips would be taken together. 

The world is not the same without Doug and no words are sufficient. He was taken from us too soon and without warning and we'll miss his insightful, thoughtful, funny take on life from now on. It doesn't seem fair, but seldom is the word 'fair' used when we say goodbye. The thing is, Doug will live in our hearts and our memories always. We loved him and we love you, Jeremy. We hope you know that your pain will ease with time and your love will guide you. Doug loved you so very much, that was plain to see. Wishing you love, light and peace, and when you're ready to travel again, we'll try to help make that easier for you if you like. We love you and we loved Doug. He is sorely missed already. Hugs to you, brother. We are here for you.

I was heartbroken to hear of Doug's passing. But, so glad to remember the incredible amount of love he had during his life. Lots of love and prayers.

I was so sorry to hear of Doug's passing and send my condolences to his family and loved ones.  I am a former colleague of his from Chase in RB.  RIP Doug.

Jeremy...We are so sorry for your loss. To Doug's family...we are sorry for your loss also. Doug was a wonderful person and an incredibly kind person. Doug and I worked together at WinStar Mortgage Partners and remained friends after it closed. Chad and I had the pleasure of seeing Doug and Jeremy during the recent holiday season. They always made a point to include us in their plans when they visted Minneapolis. I am thankful to have known Doug and to have called him a friend. He will be missed.
