On February 18, 1982 in Chula Vista CA, Dustin was born into our family.
As a child, Dustin was quiet and caring. From his beginnings, Dustin had a beautiful heart! As a youth, he enjoyed sports and developed his God Gift of art: Drawing, water color and beautiful penmanship.
Dustin loved family! He grew up with his big brother Dennis and many first cousins in Chula Vista and National City, CA. He loved spending time at his Granddad Bill and Gram Marj’s Mt. Laguna cabin with his cousins and camping and skiing at the Colorado River with his Mom and step Dad Max. Dustin played Pop Warner football and Little League baseball. Growing up, he loved watching sports with his Dad Dennis, especially football and baseball. His favorites teams, the SD Chargers (ahem…) and SD Padres brought him joy and frustration at times!
Dustin’s legacy lives on through his only child, his namesake son Dustin Jacob Bridwell Jr.
Dustin accepted Christ as his savior on Father’s Day 2019. Dustin was an exceptionally hands on Daddy. His son was his pride and joy from the moment he saw him…he rarely was not feeding, changing, talking to and snuggling with him. As Dustin’s partner Jessica says, she would change the baby’s clothes and if Dustin wasn’t “feelin the outfit” he would immediately change his clothes!
Dustin and Jessica dedicated their son to our Lord on Sunday March 3, 2019 at the Encounter Church of Chula Vista. The entire family, dear friends and church congregation came to witness this joyous event. Dustin was helping to build the new Encounter Church building in National City.
Dustin joined Jesus on July 5, 2019. This was his Gram Marj’s birthday anniversary. Gram was there at his birth. It seemed fitting that he went to join her on her birth-day. He was survived by his father Dennis W. Bridwell Sr., mother Jayne M. Maple, brother Dennis W. Bridwell II, step father Max O. Maple, half sisters Olivia M. Maple, Tara J. Maple, loving partner Jessica R. Genhart and precious son Dustin Jacob Bridwell Jr.
Dustin left us as a loving and caring man, an amazing Daddy, loving son, brother and partner to Jessie but most importantly of all, a child of the most high God.
Services will be held on July 27, 2019, 2pm @ El Camino Memorial Sorrento-Mesa, San Diego, CA.
