I just learned of Ed's passing, fearing that this was why my Christmas card came back this year.  Although I moved back to PA in 1986, we remained in touch, though less and less as the years went by.  But my memories are still strong and good.  Most significantly, Ed was my Lamaze partner as I prepared to have my child as a single mom. My labor started on my way to his house for our weekly appointment.  Ed raced me to the hospital and stayed with me through several hours of labor.  I'll always remember him saying, "Next time the pains come, could you please try not to bend my finger backwards?" The little boy born that night is now 33 and a father himself.  So Ed will always hold a very special part of my heart.  And somewhere here, in a box, I have one of his slings.  Thank you dear friend.

May God Bless you and your family and give you peace at the this time. God welcome Ed with open arms to Eternal Life. Debbie you are a living example of your Dads love!

Hey Ed, I still can't believe I'll never see you again. The past few years playing golf and having lunch in a regular routine that fit your 'busy schedule' had become part of my life. I though you'd out live us all.  I'm sure you are still arguing with St Peter about the rules and how it should be done up there. I know he will give in soon and do it your way. Rest in peace pal.

There is something so special about the love a daughter has for her father.  It is a love that is so unconditional and so free.  My dad could do no wrong in my eyes, ever.  No matter how much time we spent together, it was never enough.  I marveled at his recall, vocabulary, and his ability to talk on any subject like an expert.  He shared his heart with me on so many occasions while we said our goodbyes in my driveway.  He was a fabulous cook, a terrible house keeper, a great golfer, a puzzle solver, a music lover, and a cat hater (something I inherited from him). No one will ever be able to fill the special place that Dad has in my heart.  I'm thankful for the things he taught me, the kindness he showed me, and for his unconditional love that gave me courage to face challenges and obstacles in my path.  I am Ed's daughter and that makes me so very proud.  He was one incredible human being and it is an honor to be his daughter.  What I wouldn't give for another moment with him to tell him yet again,  "I love you Dad".

Wish we could have you over for dinner one more time so I could learn how you pulled off being Homecoming King at a school you attended for less than a year.   How you hauled that rock back to camp after being hit in the head with it. Your favorite Moody Blues concert and to write down some of your favorite recipes. We think of you everyday. Nothing but fond memories and your quick wit. You will never be forgotten.

I worked with Ed and golf with Ed.  My memories of our work relationship were many and most of them full of good times.  I was fortunate to have learned from Ed and expand my working knowledge and am grateful to had Ed as a friend.  My learning from Ed stops there as his golf abilities ended when his sling shot days came to an end.  He was very competitive and his frustrations with golf started once he had to play the game the same way we all did.  Welcome to the game!  I have lots of good memories of Ed and the good times we had, especially the trip north to visit him at the farm.  Great time as I met his brother and family. I still remember that wild ride in their buggy and am sorry for running over that young tree. I could go on and on.  He lived his life, just the way he wanted and he would greet you (after not seeing him for months) like you had just been with him the day before.  He touched everyone's life and I know we all have good memories of him.  Good friends are hard to come by and I for one am very appreciative of the ones I have in my life.  Ed, you will be missed and when I look back and go trough those memories, I will always finish with a smile in my face as those are the memories that will always be with me.  Farewell, my friend. I so looked forward to my morning visit at the Tom Cat to see Ed and talk golf.This went on for 5 years or so. He was such a character and knowledgeable man.  He loved dungeness crab and when the stores were out I would provide him with a big one. He loved to cook and knew alot about golf. Also  Volcan mtn where I have a place and he worked  up there sometimes early on. I miss him everyday and always will. Hit it straight on Heavens green fairways    Scott Cannon

It is amazing how much I have learned about my dad since he passed away. Secret compartments in his van? He never showed me that, but my little brother knew about it. He was probably the wittiest man I have ever met. I sure wish I would have inherited that from him! I loved that he was so unique. The only person I knew who could play golf better with a sling than with a club. He was generous, kind and incredibly handsome! I loved him dearly and will miss him like crazy.

Ed wasn't my birth father but I will never forget the day I asked him if I could call him Dad. I will forever be thankful to him for that.   Ed passed down the art of "Sling Golf" to me and taught me to golf.  I have so many fond memories of this one of a kind man.....

Bubba, you were a great brother and I learned a lot from you. We had many many laughs together and I think you should have been a comedy writer for a late night tv show. Your spontaneous humor was fabulous. Also, thanks for naming me. Chas Babe

Ed was certainly one of the originals!  From inventing "sling" golf, to his hidden compartments in the dash of his van, he was always walking to the beat of his own drum!  A very colorful life indeed.

Post-golf, having lunch at that pub East of the 15 on Mira Mesa Blvd....someone (probably me) got after Ed about his inflexible routines.  Up waaay pre-dawn, jump in the shower, race to the car, roar down to Denny's, sit in the same booth, order the same breakfast, work on the daily crossword puzzle.  Pay the tab, over tip the waiter, go play golf; come back to the pub (see above) for lunch and a "few" greyhounds, then home for a nap.  Ed's response in his most gravel-ly of voices, "It don't get no better than that!"  Save me a seat, Ed.  In the shade.

I have many fond memories about Ed over the years.  I first met Ed on the Carlton Oaks golf course in May of 1998.  We hit it off from the start as we both played bad golf and drank to excess. Later that week after a round of golf at Steel Canyon, Ed took me to the Tom Cat.
  
I took that as getting Ed's seal of approval. 

I got to know Ed and Jan when they came up to the farm in Oregon that year and we got together many times over the years when they would come up to the farm.  Ed got me involved with the Dry Heat Invitational golf group.  I am thankful to Ed for this as I have always enjoyed all of the people that I have met at the Dry Heat because of Ed and all of the times we golfed together.
The last time I saw Ed was in May of 2015.  I was traveling through San Diego and we got together for lunch, at the Tom Cat.  That seems very appropriate at this time.  

I will miss my friend.

Ed dated my mom, Jan Price, for 15 years before her death. He continued to come to my home to spend every Thanksgiving with me and my kids. What a special tradition. You will be greatly missed pal.

" I will never forget Ed coming into Tomcat everyday, exactly at 9 in the morning,sitting in the exact same spot, watching the same TV golf channel, and drinking the same old vodka cranbrerry juice with no straw ever since I've known him for 25 years. I remember how I once offered him a pen, but he completely refused me and wanted to use his pencil. He wouldn't want to use anything else but his special pencil. I remember how he hated stoplights and would always wear a shirt with pockets. I will miss you coming into Tomcat every morning with your special pencil. I love you, my Shifu (master)."

Ed will be truly missed by all his friends at the Tomcat.
Myself personally already miss seeing Ed in the mornings. He'd always bring us the sport section so we had the daily TV schedule for the day. If I didn't see him for a couple days I would call him or if he wasn't going to be around for a few days he'd let me know and tell me "not to call the cavalry".
He loved to watch the golf channel and the older he became the higher the volume needed to be :) May he rest in peace and join Jan in heaven.

I will never forget Ed slinging a golf ball.  From sling to strict rules adherance with the Chili Dippers.  Ed was one of a kind.  We will all miss you Ed.  RIP

A life lived on his own terms.....surely most of us would be thrilled to achieve the same.  I'll always treasure my many bizarre adventures with ETPIII.  From being part of his 'sling vs swing' career, his recruiting commitment to my Dry Heat Invitational, hanging with the farm dogs on his 1/3 of the Oregon family ranch, crabbing in Netarts Bay OR, BBQing on the beach then taking it all back to our room at a 4-star resort in Maui to parking our rented RV on the beach at Conception Bay Mexico & fishing for a week.  I would have surely missed all these good times without Ed dragging me into them.   Rest in peace big guy!!
