Elizabeth Louise Foster (nee Luellwitz), longtime San Marino resident and active community volunteer, passed away December 14. Her family was by her side. She was 93.

Foster served in many roles supporting San Marino schools. She was president of the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) at San Marino High School, helping develop programs and raise funds for students. She also held several other PTSA positions. In 1971, she chaired San Marino High School's popular Grad Night, which engaged hundreds of parents who spent thousands of hours to transform the campus into an all-night fantasy experience for graduating seniors.

Foster was born in Los Angeles on June 21, 1926, the only child of Henry M. and Marguery (Rollins) Luellwitz. Her father died in his 30s. Her mother, who worked on several boards for J. Paul Getty, remarried Clarence Vigeland. She attended Dorsey High School before being accepted at the University of Southern California (USC). She was active in Pi Beta Phi sorority and other campus organizations.

It was at USC that Foster met the love of her life, Forest (Frosty) W. Foster, who became her husband of more than 63 years. The couple lived in Los Angeles and then Dinuba, CA, where Frosty worked for her grandfather's lumber business. They then settled in San Marino, where they lived for over 40 years, raising their two sons.

Through Frosty's long association with the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, first as a volunteer "white suiter" and then on staff, including serving as associate executive director, Foster supported all of his activities side-by-side. The two traveled the world together and often could be found sailing on their boat around Newport Harbor and off the California coast. She also was an accomplished seamstress, making beautiful clothing for Frosty and her two grandchildren.

In 2003, the couple relocated to Carlsbad, California, where they were active in and beloved by the La Costa Glen retirement community. Foster is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cathy Morley Foster (Scott), of Moraga, CA; her two grandchildren, Devon (Foster) Scheitrum (Dan), Tucson, AZ; and Dana M. Foster, New York, NY; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frosty; and sons, Forest Scott Foster and Dwayne L Foster.

A Celebration of Life will be held in memory of Foster at La Costa Glen, Laguna Room, 1940 Levante St., Carlsbad, CA. on Friday, Jan. 31, 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Frosty, at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the San Marino Schools Foundation.
