Eric was born to Maurice and Yvette in the commune of Baudreix, France. He was the first boy with four older sisters and two younger brothers. His childhood in Baliros, France was filled with playing in the woods and mischievous behaviour. He loved comic books and computers before they were cool but he was too cute to be a nerd.
Eric received his masters degree in Computer Science at University of Pau. While he was completing his compulsory military service in the French Air Force he won the single spot to study in the United States. He was really just following an American exchange student he had fallen in love with ( nope, not the girl he ended up marrying). After a tough first year in the US, he started an engineering internship in July 1994 and decided to stay in San Diego. Aside from a short stint at Ericsson, he started and ended his career at Qualcomm, becoming a vice president of engineering.
He met Naomi, his wife of 23 years at UC San Diego. There was some long distance and much bickering, but she couldn't resist his smile, humor and good heart. With their boys Sébastien and Quentin, Eric shared his interests of good food, mountain biking, Star Wars, the space race, Rubik's cube, bad movies and so much math. He raised them to be proudly French.
Eric is also survived by his family in France - brother Herve, sisters Bernadette and Mireille and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by Maurice, Yvette and siblings Daniel, Nadine and Liliane.
Our hearts are shattered and we miss him.
Eric had many stories he wanted to share with his boys but wanted to wait until they were older. If you have a story you'd like to share with us, in French or English, please send it to [email protected]
