Born in Nashua, NH, Erik spent his early years in Lincoln and then Warwick, RI. After an exceptionally cold winter when he was 21, he quickly packed up his belongings and chased the sun to San Diego… a decision that would shape the rest of his life.
In San Diego, Erik quickly found his people: a crew of fun-loving guys who became like family. He and his Pacific Beach crew spent their days laughing and living at the beach, and their nights were, well, more of the same.
Erik became a bartender in the Gaslamp at the original Pour House, a lively and busy nightclub that seemed practically designed for him. The high energy, the running around, the chatting and flirting, the live music and bands—it was all perfect for young Erik, and he never once looked back at going back to a life with snow.
His tireless energy and infectious smile drew crowds wherever he went. And it was that smile that caught the eye of his sister’s roommate, Katie. Another Rhode Islander who’d sought out the sunshine and lifestyle of Southern California, they were destined to meet and fall in love. They met, she was smitten, he was smitten… the rest is history.
Eventually, Erik traded in bartending for a career with Pellegrino Stonecare. For the next 25 years or so, he mastered the art of natural stone restoration. His clients loved him, not just for the exceptional work he did, but for the genuine connections he formed. Whether talking about sports, his son, sports, his son, sports, or occasionally his lovely wife (hopefully?!)... Erik brought humor, joy, and boundless enthusiasm to every job. He truly enjoyed his work and the community he built around it.
Above all else, Erik loved his family. His son, Evan, was the light of his life. From the moment Erik first laid eyes on that ultrasound photo, his world revolved around his son. He loved every part of fatherhood… diaper changes, inventing burping tricks, speed-swaddling, messy baths, and all the everyday adventures of raising a child.
As the years went by, the activities changed, but Erik’s devotion never wavered. He and Evan shared a love of basketball, with Erik proudly helping to coach his youth team (go UC Celtics!). They also bonded over a shared passion for drumming. Erik and Evan were two peas in a pod… true partners in crime, side by side, through thick and thin.
Erik’s love shines brightly in Evan, who carries his dad’s spirit of laughter, silliness, and fun. Katie, Evan, and the family dogs, Kaeda and Tyler, will never truly find themselves missing Erik too much… his love and presence were so big, so bright, and so boundless that it will wrap them tightly every day for an eternity.
