

Ernest E. Peterson, a native of San Diego, passed away peacefully at 90 years of age on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2013 after a sudden and brief illness. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He was born July 3, 1922 to Wilhelm and Wilhelmine Peterson and after the death of his parents at age 14, was adopted by Dr. Franklin and Leone Lindemulder. He graduated from San Diego High School in the Class of 41. He attended Pomona College for one year and when WWII started he joined the Navy V-5 program. He completed aviation training at USC and became a Naval Aviator assigned to carrier Air Group Eight. He flew dive bombers off carriers and was attached to the USS Bennington. After the war, he graduated from San Diego State College and married Patricia Long in 1948. He attended the University of New Mexico and earned a Pharmacy degree in 1951.
He founded and operated Delta Drug stores in Point Loma and Hillcrest with his partner, starting in 1957, for 15 years. He practiced pharmacy and served as president of the San Diego County Pharmaceutical Association. After Ernie sold the drugstore business, he became a Real Estate Broker and managed commercial property for several Realty companies as well as his own commercial property.
Ernie was a long time member of the San Diego Yacht Club, the SD Tennis Club and Point Loma Community Church. He loved fishing, boating, tennis and travel with his family.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia, and their six children: Sheri Peterson, Lynn (Lenny) Steinberg, Barbara Peterson, Bill Peterson, Nancy Brophy and Mary Reich; five grandchildren: Mindy (Steve) Faver, Spencer Reich, Eleot Reich, David Steinberg and Loren Brophy; two great grandchildren: Grace Faver and Josiah Faver, and his sister, Carol Lindemulder.
He is remembered for his kindness, generosity, loyalty and great sense of humor. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at the Thursday Club in Point Loma on April 14 at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to your favorite charity.
