Esther L Grimes

Esther Grimes passed away peacefully in her home on August 23, 2013 at the age of 91. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 5, 1922 and moved to San Diego in 1953. Esther married David Grimes, also of Dayton, in 1943 and remained so for 57 years until his passing in 2001.

Living in the same Point Loma home they built since 1954, Esther was involved in many aspects of the community including PTA, founding member Westminster Presbyterian church, youth baseball, March of Dimes, Children’s Hospital, Point Loma Nazarene University and church, San Diego Yacht Club, PL High; to name a few. She truly loved everyone she met which included generations of Point Loma residents who affectionately called her “Muzzy”.

Esther is survived by three sons, Dave Jr., Ron and Steve, all residing in San Diego County. In addition she is survived by her adored grandchildren Tim, Chris, Thomas, Martha, Stephanie, Stacey and Shelby.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ellipse Chapel on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University. A reception will follow at the San Diego Yacht Club. Everyone is also welcome to attend the internment, also Friday September 6, at 11:00 a.m. at El Camino Memorial Park cemetery in Sorrento Valley.
