

Evelyn Laverne Graw, known to most as Verne, died Wednesday, December 21, 2022 in Rancho Bernardo, California. Laverne reached the remarkable age of 101 years only eight days before her death. She was able to live out her life in her own home with the wonderful help from her caregivers and the assistance provided by Mission Home Health and Hospice.
Laverne was born in Malta, Montana on December 13,1921 to William Henning and Lillie L. Frohwerk. She was an only child and lived a very happy childhood with many close friends after the family relocated to Missoula, Montana. Laverne attended all her school years in Missoula. She was graduated from Missoula County High School in 1941.
On October 14, 1946 Laverne married the love of her life, Sidney Graw. He was stationed at Fort Missoula at the time. After they married, they spent many years living in Germany, Japan and numerous locations throughout the United States while Sidney was in the U.S. Army. Following Sidney's retirement, they traveled extensively during his career with NBC Television.
Laverne was a Master Bridge Player for many years. She was a proficient seamstress and enjoyed making and remaking both her and Sidney's clothing. She learned to sew at an early age and continued for many years of her life. Laverne enjoyed arranging flowers which was an art she learned while living in Japan. She received numerous awards for her floral arrangements over the years.
Laverne was preceded in death by Sidney and her parents. She is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as several cousins. She also leaves behind many close friends, neighbors, and her loving caregivers.

A special thank you goes to Mauricio Martinez, her closest neighbor and friend for his tremendous help over the years. Mission Home Health and Hospice receives our most heartfelt gratitude for providing the necessary assistance that allowed her to remain in her home during the later months of her life.
El Camino Memorial is entrusted with her final arrangements. A memorial service will be planned, announced, and conducted for early Spring. Memorial Contributions can be made to Mission Home Health and Hospice in Memory of Laverne Graw.
