Dear family and friends, 
When I met Evelyn about 15 years ago as Lance's girlfriend,  an outsider,   I felt so welcomed.   She had such a warm heart.  The more I  got to know her the deeper and closer I became with the understanding of who she was.  When I became her daughter in-law Dec.  3 2005 the love grew even more.  
She would always made sure that Lance and I  always had enough of what ever we needed.    She even took me  shopping  for a beautiful dress for  my birthday., I will wear that dress in honor for her Celebration of her life. She always had a  since of peace.   She was such a beautiful woman inside her heart flowing , out through her  personality  giving  glow to her face .  Her love for all those around especially children was never ending as was her grace.   You will be missed by many Evelyn Hom,  we love you. 

Lavender: a powerful aroma that has a calming and relaxing effect. This was one of my Nana’s favorite fragrances. Over the last year I would try to bring lavender smelling things to her bedside in hopes of easing any pain or stress that she was in. The last night I saw her a few weeks before she passed, I was able to lather her neck and arms with my lavender essential oils and lie next to her side as the calming effect of lavender drifted us into a state of deep relaxing sleep. I would think back to all the beautiful times I had with my grandmother growing up. Highlights of my childhood included setting up beach picnics with Kentucky Friend Chicken in Coronado,  having her visit us in Minnesota during the hot summer months and admiring her ability to cook up a feast at Thanksgiving dinner and ending it with a bang with her famous bowls of juk. I remember easily her selfless presence she had in our family and how loving, nurturing, and kind she was to others. She embraced unconditional love.  I remember as the young granddaughter, leaving thank you notes tearfully for her and Yeh-yeh before leaving to the airport back to MN, because I would have such an incredible time in San Diego with my grandparents. She was such a  loving and affectionate person, non-judgmental and always a great listener. She always encouraged me to follow my heart. 

Now whenever I smell this small blue-violet flower, this aroma reminds me  of her beauty, elegance, and strength as my grandmother and her loving spiritual presence by my side. 


Had the pleasure of sharing Easter dinner with the Hom family at the UCSD Faculty Club some years back.  Enjoyed talking with the charming Mrs. Hom.  A beautiful person.
