Frances Wilcox, age 90, passed away October 10, 2012 in Escondido. CA. She was born in Kronenwetter Township, Wisconsin on January 16, 1922 to Valentine Gwazdacz, and Mary (Mucha) Gwazdacz. Moving to San Diego 77 years ago, she is survived by her beloved children: Kathlyn (Steve) Smith, Gail Richard Wilcox, Jr., Julian Wilcox, and Roseanne Segal; two grandchildren Sean (Colleen) Smith, and Scott Smith; great grand daugher Alivia Smith, sister Mary Neshyba, and brothers John Gwazdacz, Leo Gwazdacz, and Robert Swazdacx. Known affectionaly as the "mother" of the Normal Heights community garden, she loved gardening, and was a very active member of St. Didacus Catholic Parish for many years. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 16 from 4-7 p.m. with Rosary at 6 pm, both at Goodbody Mortuary. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Didacus Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
