Francesco was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend & mentor to all.
Francesco was born in Porticello Sicily. In 1946 at the age of 19, along with his mother and brothers, immigrated to San Diego, CA to reunite with his father following World War II. Francesco, his father and brothers continued a long, fruitful and proud fishing legacy. He was well respected for his fishing and rigging skills and was well known for his big smile and gentle, kind demeanor. He was always happy to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand.
After retirement Francesco enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, mending nets for friends, cooking, macramé and a good round of Canasta or Gin Rummy with close friends or family. His wife, Roselyn taught him to crochet and they would spend many happy hours crocheting beanie’s and socks for the local Children’s Hospital. Francesco’s greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. Picnics at the beach, drives to the country, fishing and clamming were amongst his favorites. Francesco and Roselyn were great host’s and their home was the heart of many great parties and family gatherings. Holidays were always a special time with big family gatherings and lots of great seafood and traditional Sicilian dishes. His panelli were the best! He will certainly be missed by all.
A special thanks to his wonderful caregivers for their loving care and support and to Vitas Hospice for their loving care and support during his final days.
