Francisco Arigo, also known as "Frank", passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family, at the age of 77. He was born in Kawit, Cavite, Philippines on September 20, 1946, to Jose and Trinidad. He was the seventh of nine children — having 7 brothers and 1 sister. He was preceded in death by his wife Blanquita “Baby” Arigo. He is survived by his son Francis, his daughter, Joanne with husband Dean, his four grandchildren: Chyleise, William, Katherine, and Lauren; and his three great grandsons: Colson, Fortino, and Raiden Francis. He is also survived by four of his brothers: Bishop Pedro, Eugene, Rafael, and Roberto and many nieces and nephews and their children.
After graduating Kawit High School, Francisco enlisted in the US Navy. Upon enlistment, he travelled by ship to San Diego for bootcamp, then was stationed in Key West, Florida for 2 years. He served on the USS Chicago for its 2nd, 3rd and 4th deployments to Vietnam. While in the Navy, he studied and found a passion for electronics. He served on the USS Chicago until his honorable discharge on October 1971.
After being discharged, Frank was able to apply his studies as an electronics engineer for Delta Design in San Diego. In 1973 he met his sweetheart, Blanquita (Baby) while she was living in Long Beach with her sister Lucy. Frank would visit every weekend and even flew to Los Angeles multiple times for lunch dates with Baby near the airport and flew back to San Diego the same day. (How romantic!) They married on December 1,1973 in Long Beach and they resided in San Diego where they had two children: Francis Joe and Joanne.
Frank had a successful professional career as a software, mechanical, and electronics engineer for Symtek in San Diego designing and maintaining manufacturing automation machines. He often traveled for work to South Korea, Japan, and Italy as well as several different states within the US.
Frank and Baby had a wonderful life as a family. They enjoyed summer camping to various National parks, road trips across the country, and visits to the Philippines. Frank and Baby were active parishioners and involved in numerous ministries at Good Shepherd Catholic Church for over 50 years. They were also active within the church Cursillo Group for over 20 years. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9076.
As their children grew, Frank and Baby traveled on various cruises all over the world: Hawaii, Europe, Mediterranean, Scandinavia, and Alaska. Baby loved to travel, and Frank especially enjoyed days at sea where the activities were light and he could rest. He had quite a fondness for napping. :)
In his retirement, Frank enjoyed spending time with his wife, volunteering at his church, spending time with his four grandchildren three great grandchildren, and enjoying the outdoors playing basketball and riding his bike.
He celebrated 45 years with his wife, “Baby” until her passing in February 2019. We find peace and comfort knowing they are now together smiling down on us.
