Frank Van Steenberg

Frank Van Steenberg, 83, of Encinitas, California, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 15, 2016 at Scripps La Jolla Hospital surrounded with love and support from his beloved family. Frank was born in Grand Rapids, MI on August, 13, 1932 to Frank and Katherine Van Steenberg. Frank graduated from Georgetown University and then flew for the Air Force. He received his wings in a single engine jet and then was assigned to Strategic Air Command. He returned to the civilian world and began work in Grand Rapids for Baker Furniture. He was with Baker Furniture for 40 years, majority of years spent in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Frank married the love of his life Anne and they raised three children. Frank and Anne moved in 2001 from San Marino to Encinitas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Frank’s wife Anne passed away in 2010 and Frank took up traveling as a hobby visiting Asia, South Africa, Mexico and the Caribbean. Frank enjoyed the gift of many good friends and a family that adored him. Preceded in death by his wife Anne and sister Jean. Frank is survived by his three children; Richard, Sheila and Kathy (Patrick); and five grandchildren Tyler, Matthew, Jake, Katie and David; along with family relatives and many wonderful friends.
