Days after celebrating his 63rd wedding anniversary, Fred John Crowe passed peacefully at home and joined our Lord God and Savior at age 85. He met the love of his life, Carol while renting a small room from her parents; her curiosity at the new renter prompted her to rattle the trash cans and their love story began.
Fred traveled extensively with Carol and her mother until Saidee's passing, taking in too many countries to list, many of which were off the beaten path and all of which provided fantastic memories and wonderful stories that he was quick to share with anyone. His photo albums and travel logs are a testament to a life well lived.
He always said that one lifetime wasn't enough to learn and do all the things he was interested in which ranged from shell collecting and lapidary to painting, mosaic pots and unique Torrey Pine needle baskets, archaeology, botany, and so much more.
Fred loved learning and sharing his knowledge, touching so many lives with gifts of his lapidary work. Upon meeting someone, he would quickly ask when their birth month was and favorite color and soon enough, they were gifted with a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. He always maintained he learned lapidary so that he could always make beautiful things for Carol, and he did in plenitude.
Fred was great at staying in touch with his friends and acquaintances. Always reaching out to check up or try to brighten their day if needed. So many have said how deeply he had touched their lives and how he will be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, children, Clint, Jeff and Genny, grandchildren, Nicholas, Anya, Violet and Katareena, great grandchildren, Corey, River and Sage and niece and nephew, Debbie and Russ. He will be missed by family and all his friends.
Please join us on January 16, 2027 at Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. for Fred's mass. Following mass, around 11:45, we will have a blessing over him at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception and Celebration of his life in the Hall back at Sacred Heart Church will commence after the blessing. To honor Fred, please wear a splash of yellow, his favorite color, to celebrate him.
