

He grew up in Akron, Ohio where his spiritual life began at Robert Street Church of God which held a special place in his heart.
Fred enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 with a commission in Korea and served his country until 1970.
He began his professional craft as an electrician at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron and moved on to provide 36 years of service as an Engineer Technician with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in San Diego.
Fred was known for his attention to detail, infectious laughter and radio quality voice. One of his most prized hobbies and pastimes was his membership with the San Diego Great Communicators and Fil-Am Toastmasters Clubs.
He loved spending most of his time at his beautiful home and 4-acre property in Campo, CA. He also cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
He was called home on Friday, March 27, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Willie T and mother Ara Mae. He leaves to cherish his memory, his five daughters Tracy Sojourner Muldoon (Brian), Renea Sojourner Vigil (Kevin), Jonell Schmeltz (Chad), Tiffanie Sojourner (Lane) and Raquel Sojourner; his siblings Joyce Fowler (Ronald), Lois Sojourner, Anne Sojourner, Dan Sojourner (Lenda) and Arnold Sojourner (Elizabeth); his 10 grandchildren, his nephews, nieces and many friends.
