

James, Frederick 10/11/1938 - 10/26/2015 Frederick William James was born in National City, California in 1938. He was the oldest of three boys. Growing up in National City he delivered newspapers, raced in the soap box derby and worked for his father and uncle in the family business, F. W. James and Sons Nursery. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1956 and then completed his military services in the United States Navy as part of the Seabees. Following his service in the military he attended San Diego City College and transferred to San Diego State University where he completed a B.A. in 1962 and a teaching credential in 1963. In 1961 he married his high school sweetheart Nyla Emery. They had three sons David, Eric and Alan. Following graduation Fred found employment as a teacher in the Sweetwater Union High School District. He took time off to complete a M.A. at San Diego State University, but returned to teaching in the District. He provided 35 years of dedicated service to the District teaching in the classroom, staging summer musicals, and finished his career as the Facilitator at the School of Creative and Performing Arts. Fred succumbed to complications from Alzheimer's and was preceded in death by Nyla (1998, Ovarian Cancer). He is survived by his two brothers, his three sons, and six grandchildren. There will be a visitation at the El Camino Memorial Park (5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego) Friday November 13 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Following a private graveside service there will a be memorial service at Church of the Good Shepherd Bonita (3990 Bonita Road, Bonita) at 11:00 AM Saturday November 14.
