Gloria Mary Soto

Born on December 8th 1946 in Los Angeles, California, Gloria was the heart and soul of her family — a woman who lived her life with purpose, deep faith, and unconditional love. Her strength, warmth, and devotion were the foundation of generations. Gloria was a lifelong Catholic, completely devoted to the Blessed Mother. Her rosary was never far from her hands, and her prayers held up her family through every season of life.

Gloria was married to the love of her life, Nelson Soto, and together they shared a beautiful life rooted in love, traditions, and family. She was the proud mother of five children — Sonia and Danny, who continue to carry her light, and Albert, Yvette, and Barbara, who preceded her in death and whom she longed to be reunited with in God’s eternal kingdom.

She leaves behind a legacy of love that includes 40 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren — each one touched by her gentle spirit, her joyful presence, and her steady faith. Gloria raised many of them, especially her grandsons Matthew and Alex, who held a special place in her heart. We ask family and friends to continue lifting Matthew and Alex in prayer as they navigate life without her physical presence.

Gloria loved music, dancing, and celebrating every moment life had to offer. She cherished holidays and family gatherings, where she brought everyone together with food, laughter, and stories — keeping traditions alive with intention and joy. Her home was always filled with warmth, and her door was open to all.

Though we mourn her passing, we find peace in knowing that Gloria is now dancing with the angels, reunited with her beloved children and family members, and embraced by the Blessed Mother she so dearly loved. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain with us forever.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Beardsley-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1818 Sunset Cliffs Blvd, San Diego, CA 92107.

A funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Ocean Beach, 4776 Saratoga Ave, San Diego, CA 92107.

Following the service, we will proceed to Sunset Cliffs for a brief moment of reflection and prayer at 11:30 AM, before continuing to Gloria’s final resting place.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, 4470 Hilltop Dr, San Diego, CA 92102.
