Guillermo Brealey Nietzen who was known to everyone as “Ñato” was born in Costa Rica on March 23rd, 1924 to Carlos Gustavo Nietzen Borges and Car-men Brealey Salazar. Ñato was an avid photographer at an early age, but be-came a tuna fisherman while he was a young adult. He fished many years in Costa Rica until he moved with his family to San Diego. Once moving to San Diego he became an electrician working many local projects including the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant which was his last project until he retired.
He was devoted to his beautiful wife and soul mate of 74 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love and care for his siblings was life changing. The landscape of our family will never be the same without him, but we will continue to stand atop the mountains he carved out for all of us, so that we might have a better view of this beautiful life.
Guillermo is survived by his loving wife Luz of 74 years, daughters Violet Har-rison, Yadira (Michael) McLees, his seven grandchildren, David, Rachael, Michel, Elizabeth, Kristina, Brian and Eric, great grandchildren Anthony, Mikey, Andre and Sofia. Brother Danny (Deborah) Portuquez, sisters Delma (Charles) Brealey, Ligia Masing, Carmen (Rod) Beeche and many loving niec-es, nephews and extended family. Guillermo was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to everyone.
Guillermo will forever be remembered for his big smile, his big heart, and the great love he had for his family. He was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
