FARES, HELEN LORENEHelen was born in Batesville, Arkansas to Sarah and Charles Craft on July 8, 1929, and was the couple's last child. She had three sisters and three brothers. Helen was raised in Arkansas and stayed with her parents on their farm until she was 19. With no work available she left for San Diego where her sister Ruby and her husband Joseph Fares had a home and a business. She worked and lived with them until she married Joseph's brother, Nasim, on January 21, 1950. Nasim and Helen raised four children together. Her children, Alicia Westmar-land, Theresa Pyle, Nasim Fares and Charles Fares survive their Mother. Helen had only one grandchild, Nathan Pyle. Helen was the wife and partner our Dad had prayed for to complete his dream family. They worked together to create a stable family home. She was the "homemaker " and he ran the drug store. She did everything well! Sewing, cooking, carpentry, gardening and even plumbing. Helen and Nasim celebrated their 50th Anniversary at St. Ephrem. Our Mother finally got our Father on the dance floor! That was a dream come true for her. She was 100% irish, very social and very well liked. Helen and Nasim had a wonderful life together, were blessed with each other and cherished their Catholic faith. Mother came down with a form of Dementia after turning 72 and our Father was her caregiver at home until he passed away 1 1/2 years ago. Her sons continued in his footsteps and keep her at the family home until recently she too passed away. Mom had survived Colon Cancer for 20 years but Heart and Kidney failure would, at the end, be too much to bear. It was a bittersweet moment when she was called back home to be with our Dad on the day of their 60th anniversary. But everyone knew they were together at last, forever. We, as her children, knew our Mother had finally found our Dad again after looking for him for so many months. There never would have been a good day to have Mom leave us, but that day we really understood....there is a much larger power, the most beautiful blessing we could have been given. We were very blessed with a most tender and loving Mother, our little Leprechaun....we loved you so.
