She was a true San Diego local enjoying all it has to offer. She loved spending time at the beach, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park with family and friends.
Helena had a nearly 35-year career as a Public Safety Dispatcher with the CHP. Her outstanding skills were demonstrated throughout her career while training other employees, as well as handling countless high-profile events including the safe conclusion of a civilian with a stuck accelerator incident in 2010 which garnered national media attention.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Belinda and Paul Rushton, sister-in-law Ginny Caravajal, and her niece Crystal Packan. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alexander Caravajal. Graveside services will be held October 22, 2026 at 11 a.m. The services will be on a hillside, therefore, flats are highly recommended. A Celebration of Life will commence immediately after the services at a nearby venue. Information will be provided at the services.
