

Henry Alcoser Gutierrez and Pamela Jean Gutierrez passed away October 10th, 2015 as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident while on a road trip. Henry was 70 years old, Pamela was 64.
Henry Gutierrez was born in Maverick County, Eagle Pass, Texas on September 15th, 1945; Pamela Gutierrez was born in Pasco, Washington on June 27th, 1951.
Before Henry met Pam, he was a Vietnam War veteran, awarded two Purple Hearts for his time served from 1963 to 1967. He was a serviceman for the US Navy, Patrol Boat Recon, and was medically discharged as an E4.
In late 1969, Henry Gutierrez met Pamela DeBast, and swiftly married, March 29th, 1970. They spent the next 45 years traveling the country, attending college courses, starting businesses, and becoming teachers. They loved road trips, throughout the 70’s and 80’s they spent a lot of their time in and around cars.
Henry played baseball in college, for Pacific Lutheran University, where he and Pamela attended classes together. In 1992, Henry joined the Men’s Senior Baseball team, Berry’s. He continued to play every Sunday for the next 23 years, attending numerous championship tournaments, and bringing home 10 championship rings, joined by Pamela cheering him on while crocheting blankets in the stands.
For nearly 30 years, Pamela Gutierrez was a teacher, working with special needs children from Special Education to ESL students. She transitioned to honor classes in the later part of her tenure. She was also an accomplished post-grad professor for National University, focusing on child development and teaching teachers how to teach.
Henry worked with his father-in-law, Clair, customizing and repairing cars throughout the 80’s and 90’s before transitioning into teaching with Pamela at Sweetwater Union School District. Henry specialized in physical fitness, sports medicine, and science and technology. He taught in various subjects throughout the years, from P.E. to computers and multi-media broadcasting.
Henry and Pam are survived by their daughter, Deborah Anne Gutierrez Sloan, and son, Enrique Alcoser Gutierrez II.
