Herbert A. Jackel, Jr. passed away peacefully with family at his side on October 26, 2013. Born in Des Moines, Iowa on February 16, 1932. After four years in the U.S. Navy he met his wife and best friend at Our Lady of the Rosary Church Spaghetti Dinner.
A respected business owner of Mission Hills Tax Service, Inc. in San Diego for over 25 years, he was also a member of C.S.T.C., A.P.I.C.S., I.C.F, Branch #246, the Knights of Columbus Council 9498, a lifetime member of Balboa Assembly 4th degree, and was active in the St. Vincent de Paul parish. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Benny (Canepa), daughters Marlene Jones (Ernie), Carol Mayhew (Bud), Denise Doroshuk (Paul), three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services at 10:00 a.m. Friday November 1, 2013 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Special gratitude to the staff of San Diego Healthcare Center-Lifehouse and Vitas Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Father Joe's Villages.
