Herbert Charles Parker

July 1, 1929 – October 25, 2025

Herbert “Herb” Charles Parker, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at the age of 96.

Born in Troy, Ohio, Herb spent his early years in Tampa Bay, Florida, before making his home in North San Diego County, California. He proudly served his country for 11 years in the United States Coast Guard, where he developed a lifelong love of adventure, service, and camaraderie. Following his military service, he built a distinguished 40-year career as an electrical engineer in San Diego’s aerospace industry, where his intellect, precision, and curiosity left a lasting mark.

A man of deep faith and fellowship, Herb was a Past Master of the Normal Heights Masonic Lodge, where he embodied the Masonic virtues of integrity, charity, and brotherhood.

Beyond his professional and civic life, Herb was an adventurer at heart. He was an avid pilot and motorcyclist, embracing the freedom of open skies and winding roads. His final long-distance ride to Crater Lake in celebration of his 80th birthday was a fitting tribute to a life well lived in motion and wonder.

After retiring to Grants Pass, Oregon, Herb continued his lifelong dedication to helping others as a proud member of the Josephine County Search and Rescue Team. Known for his easy smile and warm heart, he never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for connecting with anyone he encountered.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Brenda Parker; his sons, Steve Parker and Jim Sechrist; and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever remember his warmth, humor, and unwavering love.

Herb’s life was one of service, curiosity, and heart. He was a man who built, explored, and gave selflessly until the very end.

A memorial service will be held on November 18, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in Herb’s name.
