Ignacio (Todd) was born July 28, 1932 in San Diego, California. He grew up in Old Town and Little Italy with his parents, four brothers and two sisters. As a young boy, Todd worked as a newsboy downtown, selling papers on the corner. At age 13 he worked at Anthony's Fish Grotto at the Embarcadero as a dishwasher. Todd graduated from San Diego High School in 1951, then went to work for Ryan Aeronautical, then Convair, and finally Solar Turbines. While at Solar, he met Rose, the love of his life, who worked at Solar as a parts inspector. He was drafted into the Army and served in the infantry for two years, in Germany during the Korean War. When Todd returned from Germany, he and Rose were married on his 24th birthday in 1956 at the Little Chapel of the Roses in Bonita. Todd retired from Solar after 35 years as a gas turbine supervisor.
Todd and Rose were married for 60 years, and were blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. When the kids were young, the whole family were involved with Pop Warner football for several years. Todd coached, their sons played, their daughter cheered, and Rose was a chaperone and played Powder Puff football with the other moms. Todd also enjoyed golfing at many local courses with the Solar Golf Club, and continued to play after he retired. He also enjoyed camping and traveling with his family, dancing with his wife, eating at Filippi's, watching the Chargers play, celebrating holidays with extended family, and attending church. In his later years, Todd enjoyed rooting for his grandchildren as they played various sports during their school years. He also enjoyed attending Bible study (name of group?) and helping out at various church events. Todd was beloved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
Todd is survived by his beloved wife Rose, their son Daniel Glen and his sons Theodore Ethan and Zachary Ezra son Steven Todd and his children Nicholas Todd and Emilie Rose; their daughter Laura Suzanne, her husband Chuck and their children Charles Lon, Sierra Rose, Jacob Paul, Luke Todd and their grandchildren Jacob, Alivia, Ava Grace, Mercedes, and Korina; and honorary granddaughter Juliete Rose. He is also survived by his siblings Ted, Eddie, Ricky, Mary Louise, Rosie, and Peter, and many nieces and nephews.
Todd went home to be with our Lord on January 23, 2017 at the age of 84, with his family by his side. He will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery.
