Ilene E. Singleton Vespa

Ilene Esther (Singleton) Vespa died peacefully at her home October 12, 2016, at age 68 after a long struggle with Dementia. She is remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Outgoing, funny and vivacious she was loved by all who met her. Born in San Diego, she grew up in Point Loma serving in the student body at Point Loma High School. Later, while raising her three daughters, she became involved in the PTA, school craft fairs, and Halloween carnivals. From her volunteer experience at Ericson Elementary, she went on to work for Mira Mesa High School, first as a Teacher’s Assistant and then as a Media Lab Technician. Well known for her creativity and artistic abilities, she enjoyed working in soft sculpture, making Halloween and Christmas decorations, and painting. She loved visiting with family, hosted many holiday parties and even traveled to Italy to meet relatives abroad.

She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Vespa and her brother, Robert Singleton. She will be greatly missed by her children: Angela Melfi, Michelle (Melfi) Coleman, Christina Melfi, and grandchildren: Gia Jung and Kaden Coleman.
